Newsweek: Happy New Year, Tumblrs! A Big Thanks,... →
newsweek: It’s been a rough one here for us at NWK HQ: there was the sale, new owners, mass exodus, all that talk about the “death” of a brand, search for a new editor, fake search for a new editor, new offices, new departures, new offices again (and again?), website…

NYT: Senate On Track To Repeal DADT →
gq: “I don’t care who you love,” Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon, said as debate opened. “If you love this country enough to risk your life for it, you shouldn’t have to hide who you are.” Mr. Wyden showed up for the Senate vote despite saying on Friday that he would be unable to do so because he would be undergoing final tests before his scheduled surgery on Monday for prostate cancer.

Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) Hasn't Gone Tanning in...
newsweek: NEWSWEEK: How often do you go tanning? Snooki: To be honest with you, I haven’t gone tanning since the show wrapped. That was in September. Is your skin pale? Oh, no. I think I’m naturally tan. So why go tanning? Because you want to be darker than you already are, silly. I’ve never gone tanning. When you’re tanner, you feel hotter and sexier. You should try it. Yes, this is a real...

The Observer: Turning Gawker on Itself →
nicksummers: I have some new scenes and details on the Gawker hack for tomorrow’s Observer: TURNING GAWKER ON ITSELF It had been such a good week for Nick Denton. Writers and editors from his network of sites had flown in from around the country and been put up on Gawker’s dime, in preparation for the 2011 relaunch of the site that launched the blogger age. After team dinners and...

inadvisable: newsweek: kryanjones: Newsweekers Drink Moonshine We all know that Newsweek is going through hard times, but how does the staff get by?  We do a story about moonshine, of course! We organized a taste-testing of “legal moonshines,” which, though oxymoronic, is the latest trend in hipster drinking.  This is why journalism and alcoholism both end the same way. Has there ever...
